Configuring Syncronous Links with ISDN backup

These links tend to be known by different names according to your location in the world.

See myWAN Faq for more information.

This config asumes that we will be using CLI to identify the incomming call. PPP as the transport protocol. PAP as the authentication protocol, and that calls may be in either direc tion.

Chris's RULE allways use CLI

Collect data to set up link, See Davids PPP Faq for an example form.

Decide on names for isdn call and a number for the ppp interface.

Proceed as for a plain Killostream link and test. When satisfied make the following changes. These are to

NOTE on one of the routers the precidence entery for the ISDN call must b e out and on the other in.

add isdn call={remote router name} dir=both inany=off prec=out num={remote routers phone neumber} searchcli=on

show isdn call
set ppp=0 iprequest=off username=local router name} password={PAP password to send}

set ppp=0 over=syn0 conf=5 lqr=10
add ppp=0 over=isdn-{remote router name} type=secondary authorization=pap authmode=in

show ppp=0

show ppp=0 config

Save configs and restart both routers.

create config=backup1.cfg
set config=backup1.cfg
restart router

Check that the routes come backup up and that the link works. Deliberatly fault the leased line link. After a period of 2-3 times the value of the lqr timer the link should come back up over the ISDN, reinstate the kilostream and the PPP circuit should tran sfer back.

These changes should be writen to the logs.
