Configuring Ethernet interface

The ports themselves are auto sensing and do not need to be configured.

They will name them selves as eth and a number. If your router has 4 ethernet Interfaces they will be named as.

Check that routers ethernet interface is connected with a sutable cable and that a link light is showing. If cabled but no link light check the MDX switch. This should be set to PC if connected to a PC network card, NetTerm, or to the UpLink port on a hub.

If connected to any other port on a hub, or to a port on a switch it should normaly be set to HUB.

If you do not have a link light try swiching the router off and changing the MDX switch. Seting it incorectly will not harm the router it just will not work.

Under no cercumstances connect cables between ISDN-2 {BRI} interfaces and ethernet connections.

Assign IP Address

You should assign an IP address to the ethernet interface based on, your network design.

add ip int=eth0 ip=192.168.44.2 mask=255.255.255.0

show ip int
show ip route
show con dyn=ip

DHCP
